Offsets in carrier frequency in the modem are corrected by the CMTS during ranging. Typically most if not all off the frequency error is removed in the initial ranging response with incremental changes removed during periodic ranging. If large frequency offsets are expected during initial or periodic ranging, this value may be configured to provide extended frequency offset detection and correction.
