The global identifier (GLID) of this component. This ID is a unique identifier for the CMM chassis (midplane), set by the manufacturer. This ID and the associated inventory is passed back to IBM via the Electronic Service Agent and the Call Home feature. This ID and the accompanying chassis inventory will be stored and retained resulting in a configuration/change history file of the inventory for a chassis associated with a particular GLID. This ID can be used by a customer to identify and categorize all the content that resides within a chassis, much like a physical serial number is associated with a single box server.
