This is a control variable. It is written by an external management entity. Changes take effect as soon as practical in the implementation. The object represents the administrative parameterization of a non-AP station's scan behavior when it roams from the current AP to another one. This attribute is configured on APs only, i.e. a station will learn the desired behavior from the AP it is currently connected to. 1 - A station shall scan all channels allowed in order to select the AP with the best signal strength reading from the list of candidates that it can find. 2 - A station shall scan the next allowed channels in ascending order to find the first AP it can connect to. If it finds a suitable AP, it will attempt to connect to it irrespective of other APs that would offer a better signal strength. If next-channel(2) is selected, the snMspsWlanIPCFSignalQualityThreshold attribute should be configured to optimize the roaming behavior of the non-AP stations.
INTEGER { all-channels(1), next-channel(2) }
